For over two weeks, more than 3.000 youths, composed of 28 teams from all the ten regions of the country took part in the “super coupe Paul BIYA” competition that was hosted in Mvomeka’a, the birth place of President Paul BIYA. The main objectives of the tournament are to foster sharing, fraternity, togetherness and a healthy competition. The climax of the celebration was the football finals that took place at the Mvomeka’a multi sports complex on Friday 13 February 2009. Beyond the sporting activities, this first edition of the “super coupe Paul BIYA” was another occasion for Cameroonians to express their support to the President of the Republic and the noble ideas that he incarnates.
As for Madam Chantal BIYA, the patroness of the competition, she once more had the opportunity to promote the social endeavours of her husband by assembling together the Cameroonian youths. The First Lady of Cameroon received loud cheers at the finals. She was particularly adept at executing the kick-off at the start of the final match.
