The six ladies who were all members of CERAC are leaving Cameroon as their husbands are called up for duties elsewhere. Madam Eblissam Alwakeel, wife of the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, who was dean of the diplomatic corps; Nevine Saad Akl, wife of the Egyptian Ambassador; Line Guevremont, wife of the Canadian High Commissioner; Micheline Serre, wife of the French Ambassador; Elizabeth Maddicott, wife of the High Commissioner of Great Britain; and Christina Gin Yun, wife of the Greek Ambassador all came one after the other to the East end of Unity Palace to meet the First Lady on Thursday 11 June 2009. The atmosphere was cordial as usual, though there were some regrets about the separation of true friends. The First Lady and Her guests made a review of the past years and their activities in CERAC. Madam Chantal Biya expressed the desire that they should continue to be friends of Cameroon in the new locations to which their husbands will be posted. The encounters ended with the exchange of gifts. |
