The move took many people unaware. In the early afternoon, the motorcade of the President of the Republic stopped at the entrance of this beautiful green space that was opened to the public three days earlier. President Paul BIYA, accompanied by Madam Chantal BIYA and their children came visiting what has been christened in French “Bois Sainte Anastasie”.
Like some of the visitors who had come before them, the President of the Republic walked through the woods, climbing stairs, crossing culverts and even sitting on the public bench under a shade to better appreciate the beauty of this new green park recently constructed in the heart of Yaounde.
Before leaving, the President of the Republic and Madam Chantal BIYA greeted the lucky Cameroonians who had gathered outside the fence when word went out that President Paul BIYA was there in person. They later drove back to Unity Palace after passing through some streets of the capital city, including the 20th May Boulevard, as their own manner of wishing a merry Christmas to the inhabitants of Yaounde. |
