National sovereignty belongs to the people who exercise it through the President of the Republic and the members of the National Assembly or by referendum. The President of the Republic is at the summit of the State. He is elected by the entire nation and he incarnates national unity.
The President of the Republic is the Head of State. He is the guarantor of the Institutions of the Republic, of national independence and the integrity of the national territory. Judicial power is exercised by the Supreme Court, Appeal Courts and the Courts. It is independent of the executive power and legislative power. The Supreme Court has three chambers; the Judicial, Administrative and Audit Benches.
The Economic and Social Council is a consultative organ of the Republic of Cameroon whose main mission is to render opinion and to make proposals to political leaders on economic, social and cultural issues.
