Cameroon and Chad concert on Central Africa

The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA granted audience on Sunday 5 January 2014 to Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration MHAMAT MOUSSA FAKI, bearer of a written message from Chadian President Idriss DEBY ITNO. After the over one hour audience with the Head of State, the Chadian envoy revealed that their discussions were related to the ongoing crisis in the Central African Republic, which is a neighbouring country to both Chad and Cameroon.

He declared that in his capacity as the current President of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), President Idriss DEBY ITNO was in consultation with his colleagues to seek a solution to the problems of the Central African Republic. President Paul BIYA has always been at the forefront in the search for solutions for the crisis in Central Africa, he continued, reason why troops were sent from Cameroon as well as Congo, Gabon, and Chad to try to pacify the situation. 

The Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration regretted that troops from his country were being suspected by the belligerents as favouring one side over the other, which he said was not the case. He praised the work so far done by the forces of the International Mission to Support Central Africa. 

The Minister, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic accompanied the Head of State during the audience, while the Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration came along with the Chadian Ambassador to Cameroon, YOOSEM-KONTOU NOUDJIAMLAO.
