PRESS RELEASE

In a press release signed on 26 November 2014 by the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic Ferdinand NGOH NGOH, the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA announces to the national and international community that a special operation by the Cameroonian Defence and Security Forces resulted in the liberation this night of fifteen (15) Cameroonians taken hostage on 20 September and 24 October 2014 in the East Region by a group of armed insurgents from the Central African Republic as well as the Polish Priest MATEUSZ DZIEDZIC, taken captive on 12 October 2014 in the Central African Republic.

The President of the Republic is thankful to all those who from far or near contributed to this happy end. 

He is particularly grateful for the contribution of His Excellency Denis SASSOU NGUESSO, President of the Republic of Congo and Mediator in the crisis of the Central African Republic.

The President of the Republic warmly congratulates the Cameroonian Defence and Security Forces for their bravery and their devotion and reiterates his determination to continue to work for the peaceful resolution of crises and conflicts within the sub-region and to strive relentlessly for the preservation of peace, stability and security in Cameroon, the gateway for the prosperity and the well-being of our population.
