Relations between Cameroon and Nigeria are on an excellent note as Presidents BUHARI and BIYA are determined to work together for the economic and social development of the two brotherly and friendly countries.

This is atmosphere in Abuja where the Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA and his wife Mrs. Chantal BIYA arrived today around mid-day for a state visit to Nigeria. The Vice President of Nigeria, YEMI OSINBAJO was on hand at the airport to receive the Presidential Couple.

Nigerian President Muhammadu BUHARI and his wife Aisha BUHARI gave President Paul BIYA and his wife Mrs. Chantal BIYA a colourful ceremonial welcome at the Nigerian Presidential Palace at Aso Rock, with full military honours.

After official pictures by the two Presidential Couples, the First Ladies left for the Residence to share more time together while Presidents BUHARI and BIYA had a close door discussion before joining the two delegations that were already hard at work to harmonise views of the two countries.

Two cooperation agreements were signed by the two parties as well as a memorandum of understanding on the need to maintain water in the Benue Basin.

A state banquet was scheduled to close this first day of the state visit of the President of the Republic to Nigeria.
