The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA and his wife Madam Chantal BIYA returned to Yaoundé on Monday 21 October 2013 from Rome where they met with Pope Francis at the Vatican on the occasion of the official visit to the Holy See. The Couple were received at the airport this evening by a host of senior state officials, led by the President of the Senate Marcel NIAT NJIFENJI, the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic Ferdinand NGOH NGOH and the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, His Lordship Pierro PIOPPO.

President Paul BIYA granted brief audiences to the President of the Senate, the Apostolic Nuncio, the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, and the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, Mr. Jean NKUETE. Meanwhile First Lady Chantal BIYA and the spouses of the close collaborators of the Head of State had a chat in the ladies corner.

The drumbeat of the dance groups and party militants went into a frenzy when they were greeted by the Presidential Couple before their motorcade drove through the streets of Yaoundé as they went back to Unity Palace.
