The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA and his wife Mrs. Chantal BIYA arrived in the evening on Saturday 2 August 2014 to participate in the maiden US – Africa Summit scheduled to hold in the American capital city on 5 – 6 August 2014. The plane of the President of the Republic landed at the Andrews Joint Base after a journey that took close to 12 hours.

On hand to welcome them was Cameroon’s Ambassador to the United States, Charles Joseph Bienvenu ATANGANA Foe and his wife; the former Ambassador of the United States of America to Cameroon, Robert P. JACKSON and his wife; and a military unit of the Old Guard who rolled the red carpet for the Head of State and displayed the flags of the two countries as a sign of the recognition of the friendship ties that bind them.

The motorcade of the President of the Republic then went down town to Washington D.C. and precisely to the Four Seasons Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, where an enthusiastic group of the Cameroonian community and other well-wishers awaited them. President Paul BIYA was accompanied by so many ranking members of Government who will take part in the numerous events organised around the summit.
