Mrs Chantal BIYA attended a Thematic Meeting on Women's Education on the heels of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The conference was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on 5 September.
Hosted by Chinese First Lady Peng LIYUAN, the spouses of the African Heads of State and Government agreed to join forces in raising awareness for equal access to education on the continent.
First Lady Chantal BIYA is a renowned advocate for the promotion of women's empowerment and the education of girls. Her exceptional service earned her the position of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion in 2008. Thus, the thematic meeting was centred on issues that are personally and emotionally important to her humanitarianism.
The First Ladies present at the conference equally participated in an exhibition that showcased key aspects of Chinese culture, and the positive results of women's education in the country.
