The President of the Republic of France, His Excellency Emmanuel MACRON, had a telephone conversation with his Cameroonian counterpart, H.E. Paul BIYA this morning - 30 June 2018.

This phone call was made in prelude to the French leader's trip to Africa early next week, and his participation in the African Union summit.

Both Presidents condemned yesterday's attack on a regional staff of the G5 Sahel joint force.

H.E. Emmanuel MACRON and President Paul BIYA shared views on the security situation in the Lake Chad Basin - especially with the French President's planned visit to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation towards the fight against the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The phone call also made it possible for the French and Cameroonian Heads of State to discuss on the agenda of the African Union summit and migration. The President of the French Republic acknowledged the actions taken by the African Union for the resolution of crises in the continent.

They concluded their discussion on the future of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.
