On the instructions of the Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA, there is a vast movement of military personnel and equipment to the Northern Regions of the country, with the objective to fight the Boko Haram insurgency and to protect the national territory.

This measure is coming shortly after the working visit of President Idriss DEBY ITNO to Yaounde from 22 to23 May 2014 and the summit in Paris on 17 May 2014, which was called at the initiative of French President François HOLLANDE and which brought together the leaders of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Benin and Niger.

This measure translates into concrete action the commitment undertaken by President Paul BIYA at the summit in Paris in the following words: “We are here to affirm our solidarity and our determination to fight vigorously against Boko Harm. The problem of Boko Haram has ceased to be only a Nigerian problem, it has become a regional if not continental problem. We are here to declare war on Boko Haram”.

The war which the Cameroonian army is preparing to fight is against a terrorist movement that acts in secrecy, therefore it requires the solidarity of all. The entire nation needs to give them total support so that they can succeed in their mission.
