The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA and Madam Chantal BIYA returned to the country on Sunday 15 December 2013 after participating in the summit on Peace and Security in Africa held at the Elysée in Paris on the 6 and 7 December 2013 at the invitation of French President François HOLLANDE.

The Presidential Couple was received on arrival at the Nsimalen International Airport by the President of the Senate, Marcel NIAT NJIFENJI; the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon YANG; the First Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly, Hilarion ETONG; the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand NGOH NGOH; and the French Ambassador to Cameroon, Christine ROBICHON.

The President of the Republic and His wife then greeted a host of other senior state personalities, CPDM party militants and other well-wishers who came to cheer the Presidential Couple on their return.

President Paul BIYA granted brief audiences to the President of the Senate, the French Ambassador to Cameroon, the Prime Minister, the First Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly and the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic.

Meanwhile the First Lady and the wives of the close collaborators of the President of the Republic had a brief chat in their lounge.

It should be recalled that President Paul BIYA returned to Yaoundé after attending an important summit on Peace and Security in Africa, which was preceded by a roundtable on the fight against poaching and trafficking in endangered animal species in Africa.

President Paul BIYA, at each of the meetings, presented the position of Cameroon on these important issues. He called for solidarity between Africa, France and the other countries of the international community to overcome the problems of insecurity and to preserve peace.

There is no doubt that the contribution of Cameroon was highly appreciated by the other Heads of State, Government or Delegation present at the summit.
