His Excellency Liu Guozhong, Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China and Special Representative of President Xi Jinping was received in audience by President Paul BIYA at Unity Palace on 17 January 2024. The Central Committee and Political Bureau Member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is on a two-day official visit to Cameroon to reinforce diplomatic relations.
The Head of State and the high-level visitor reviewed the excellent and friendly bilateral ties that exist between Yaounde and Beijing before exploring new avenues of cooperation in a variety of areas.
Cameroon and China are strategic partners on a wide range of issues such as water and energy, health, transport, education, sports, agriculture, mining, information and communication technologies, and security. The rich cooperation ties that are based on mutual trust contribute enormously to Cameroon’s drive towards emergence by 2035.
The size of the Chinese delegation to the Unity Palace and the length of the talks between President Paul BIYA and Vice Prime Minister Liu Guozhong are strong indications that the leaders of both countries are determined to deepen ties for the interest of their citizens.
