The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA granted audience to Firmin AYESSA, Congolese Minister of State, Director of Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic of Congo, on Tuesday 25 November 2014 at Unity Palace.

Talking to the press shortly after discussions with the President of the Republic for over one hour, the Congolese Envoy said that his visit was in line with the ongoing and regular consultations within the sub-region wherein there are two groupings to which Cameroon and the Republic of Congo are affiliated; the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States (CEMAC).

The Minister of State Firmin AYESSA made it clear that it was in the capacity of the mediator of the sub-region for the Central African crisis that President Denis SASSOU NGUESSO dispatched him to meet his fiend and brother, President Paul BIYA, so as to have good advice on some issues in order to bring a lasting solution to the situation in the Central African Republic.

The Central African Republic has had political instability for quite a long time, coupled with a civil war that pitted two opposing militias, the Anti-balaka and the Seleka, leading to the death of many people. Since 23 January 2014, Madam Catherine Samba-Panza has been the Interim Head of State for the Transition in the Central African Republic.

Speaking on the postponement of the Heads of State and Government Conference that was scheduled to hold in the Chadian capital city of Ndjamena, the Congolese envoy said that it was postponed because the date was not suitable to the agendas of most of the Heads of State.
