The German Ambassador to Cameroon Klaus-Ludwig KEFERSTEIN and the recently freed German hostage Robert NITSCH EBERHARD met with the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA to thank him for the role Cameroon played in freeing him from the pangs of Boko Haram.

Klaus-Ludwig KEFERSTEIN and Robert NITSCH EBERHARD had audience for almost one hour on Saturday 24 January at Unity Palace. Speaking to reporters shortly after the audience, the German Ambassador to Cameroon said that they had come to Unity Palace to express their gratitude to the Head of State for the role he played in the liberation of the German hostage who was taken hostage by insurgents of the Boko Haram some six months ago.

It was also an occasion for Robert NITSCH EBERHARD to narrate his experience to President Paul BIYA, who hailed the personal strength of the German that enabled him to survive in captivity.

Klaus-Ludwig KEFERSTEIN condemned the negative activity of Boko Haram which was doing a lot of harm on Cameroon and Nigeria.

Responding to a question from the press, the German Ambassador revealed that greater cooperation links between Cameroon and Germany are definitely in the pipeline as President Paul BIYA recently had a telephone conversation with the German Chancellor Madam Angela MERKEL.
