The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA granted audience on 23 May 2013 to visiting American Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Cynthia AKUETTEH

 

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, who was accompanied to Unity Palace by the Ambassador of the United States to Cameroon, Robert JACKSON, told the press at the end of the audience that her discussions with President Paul BIYA were centred on security issues. 

According to Cynthia AKUETTEH, security in the Gulf of Guinea, where there have been several incidents of piracy and armed robbery, the crises in the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo, were reviewed during the audience. She promised that Cameroon will always stand by Cameroon in its quest for peace and development.

Other issues discussed during the audience were related to political issues, such as the preparations for the next parliamentary and municipal elections and the strengthening of Cameroon’s democracy.
