The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA has granted audiences to the American Ambassador to Cameroon, Michael Stephen HOZA and the French Secretary of State for Development and la Francophonie, André VALLINI, audiences during which security and development issues were discussed.

The American Diplomat arrived Unity Palace this Thursday 30 June 2016 for the high level discussions with President Paul BIYA. Speaking to the press shortly afterwards, he indicated that discussions centred on the renewed partnership between Cameroon and the United States in the fight against terrorism. He said the collaboration between the two armies to fight the Boko Haram insurgency in the Far North Region is ongoing with the supply of logistics and training.

Michael Stephen HOZA warned that despite the successes registered so far, the islamists still remain dangerous and most be fought vigorously. 

Later in the afternoon, President Paul BIYA granted audience to the visiting French Secretary of State for Development and la Francophonie. At the end of their discussions, the French Minister, in his remarks to the press, revealed the issue of security as the main focus of their meeting. Issues of terrorism, which are hitting Europe and America through Daesch and Africa through Boko Haram preoccupied the two personalities.

André VALLINI also talked on the importance of the 3rd phase of the CD2 debt cancellation project which he says will be beneficial to all Cameroonians.

The Head of State gratified the French envoy with some souvenir gifts as a sign of the robust friendship between the two countries.
