The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA granted audience on Wednesday 4 June 2014 to the outoing Ambassador of Italy to Cameroon, Stefano PONTESILI.

After the audience that lasted over half an hour, the Italian Ambassador, who has been in Cameroon for four years, said that he made a review of the very excellent cooperation ties between Italy and Cameroon with President Paul BIYA.

He expressed his conviction on the need to strengthen and broaden these ties which have a very bright outlook, especially with the economic growth that Italy is witnessing at the moment after the financial crisis that hit Europe in the past years.

The Ambassador foresees that this cooperation can in the future see the financing of major development projects by the Italian Government, assistance for development and the revamping of the joint commissions between the two countries.

Ambassador Stefano PONTESILI thanked the Head of State for all the honours and good time he has had in Cameroon and the constant attention paid to his country.

He then extended his best wishes to the Cameroonian people, saying that Cameroon is a wonderful country, with many gifts from nature, a country that will always remain in his memory.
